The Residential Compost Collection Program provides residents with a designated location to dispose of eligible compostable materials. The compost site supports sustainable waste management.

Eligibility
To use the compost site:
- You must be a resident of the Village of Saranac Lake
- A valid compost permit is required
Residents may obtain a permit by:
- Providing proof of Village residency at the Village Office
Approved participants will receive a permit sticker for their vehicle.
Accepted Materials
Accepted materials include:
- Leaves
- Grass clippings
- Small branches
- Small yard debris
The site does not accept:
- Household garbage
- Construction debris
- Treated wood
- Large tree materials
- Commercial dumping
Hours of Operation
Monday – Friday: 7 AM – 2:30 PM
Saturday – Sunday: 7 AM – 12 PM
Hours may be adjusted seasonally or due to operational needs.
