Development Board
The Village of Saranac Lake Development Board reviews larger or more complex residential, commercial, and mixed-use development projects within the Village. The Board plays an important role in supporting thoughtful growth, protecting community character, and ensuring projects are consistent with Village regulations, adopted plans, and long-term community goals.
The Development Board works closely with applicants, property owners, design professionals, and the Village Community Development Department throughout the review process. The goal is to provide a fair, transparent, and collaborative process that helps projects move forward while addressing site design, infrastructure, public safety, accessibility, environmental considerations, and neighborhood compatibility.
Applications are evaluated based on the type, size, scope, and potential impacts of the proposed project. The Community Development Department is available to help applicants understand requirements, navigate the process, and identify the appropriate level of review before submitting an application.
