Park projects enhance public spaces throughout the Village, including parks, trails, waterfront areas, recreational facilities, and community gathering spaces. These investments improve accessibility, recreation, connectivity, and quality of life for residents and visitors alike.

Projects may include playground upgrades, trail improvements, waterfront enhancements, public art, landscaping, accessibility improvements, and environmental stewardship initiatives.

The Village works with community organizations, volunteers, and funding partners to create vibrant public spaces that reflect the character and identity of Saranac Lake.

Boothe River Park

Project Description

Boothe River Park is a proposed riverfront recreation project on the Saranac River near the Route 3 LaPan bridge. The project would create a river park with a whitewater feature, improved river access, shoreline restoration, and safer public use for paddlers, anglers, tubers, and visitors.

The project builds on Saranac Lake’s paddling culture and supports downtown revitalization by turning an underused section of the river into a more visible, accessible, and active public space. The project was originally advanced by local paddlers and community volunteers and later transferred to the Village for implementation.

Project Status

Design and public engagement are ongoing. As of late 2024, the project was reported to be approximately 30% designed and seeking additional public input and fundraising support.
