The Department of Public Works (DPW) is responsible for the maintenance, repair, operation, and improvement of Village infrastructure and public facilities.
From maintaining streets and sidewalks, stormwater systems, water and sewer infrastructure, and municipal facilities, the DPW plays a critical role in supporting the quality of life and daily operations of the Village.
The department maintains:
- Approximately 24 miles of Village streets
- Approximately 34 miles of sidewalks
- Stormwater infrastructure
- Water and sewer systems
- Municipal buildings and facilities
- Public rights-of-way
The DPW also supports public safety operations, infrastructure improvements, seasonal maintenance, and community events throughout the year.
Streets
The DPW maintains 24 miles of paved streets. Responsibilities include:
- Pothole repairs
- Paving and patching
- Snow removal
- Street painting
- Street signage
- Street sweeping
- Trimming within the right-of-way
Sidewalks
The DPW maintains 34 miles of sidewalks.
Water & Sewer Infrastructure
The Department of Public Works supports the operation and maintenance of the Village’s water distribution and wastewater collection systems.
Responsibilities may include:
- Water main maintenance
- Sewer infrastructure maintenance
- Catch basin cleaning
- Storm drain installation and repair
- Coordination with treatment facilities
- Emergency response support
- Capital improvement projects
Supporting Community Events
In addition to daily operations, the DPW provides logistical and operational support for many community events and public celebrations throughout the year.
This support may include:
- Traffic control
- Barricade placement

- First Night (downtown road closure)
