The Department of Public Works maintains the Village's infrastructure, including water and sewer systems, 24 miles of roads, 34 miles of sidewalks, parks, and several municipal buildings.

About

Public Works is responsible for maintaining the Village’s public streets, storm water drainage and sanitary sewer systems. It also manages road repair and construction, park maintenance, street beautification and maintenance of the Village's vehicles.
 
The Public Works Department (DPW) consists of three divisions responsible for the construction, operation, and maintenance of the Village's infrastructure and other public services. 
The DPW also supports a wide variety of special projects and events, including:
The Public Works Department is overseen by a Superintendent of Public Works and is staffed by seventeen full-time employees and four part-time employees. 

Residential Compost Facility

At the Compost Facility, Village residents may dispose of leaves and brush. This facility is fully staffed during normal business hours on the weekdays, and even has set weekend hours. In order to drop off compost materials, you must be a Village resident and obtain a compost permit. Currently located at the DPW Garage, 95 Van Buren St.

Hours of Operation: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM Monday through Friday

The Village of Saranac Lake follows a seasonal schedule:

The Parking Ban states that all vehicles must be parked off of the street from 2:00AM to 6:00AM.

Any vehicles found in violation of this will be ticketed and towed. 

This is in accordance with Village law §276-4 Parking.

Village residents with a valid compost permit may dispose of leaves and brush.
