The Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department (SLVFD) is an independent volunteer organization that provides fire protection and emergency response services.
The department is composed of dedicated volunteer firefighters and five Village-employed Fire Drivers, providing emergency response 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Together, they protect the lives, property, and safety of residents.
A Partnership in Public Safety
Providing fire protection in Saranac Lake is a partnership between the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department and the Village of Saranac Lake.
The Volunteer Fire Department is an independent volunteer organization whose members respond to fires, vehicle accidents, rescue incidents, hazardous materials emergencies, alarms, and other requests for service.
The Village of Saranac Lake proudly supports the department by employing five Fire Drivers. Through the Village's annual budget, funding is also provided for apparatus replacement, equipment, training support, facility maintenance, and other operational needs.
This partnership combines the dedication of volunteer service with the resources and operational support of municipal government, helping ensure the department remains ready to respond whenever the community needs it.
