The Citizen Police Interface Committee serves in an advisory capacity to the Village Board of Trustees and works to strengthen communication, understanding, and trust between the Saranac Lake Police Department and the community.

Through collaboration with residents, community organizations, local institutions, and law enforcement representatives, the Committee supports constructive dialogue related to public safety, community relations, transparency, and community engagement.

Mission

The mission of the Citizen Police Interface Committee is to promote constructive communication, mutual understanding, and positive relationships between the Saranac Lake Police Department and the community it serves.

The Committee operates in an advisory capacity to the Village Board of Trustees and works to:

  • Encourage community dialogue and engagement
  • Promote equitable and respectful public safety practices
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen police-community relations

The Committee also serves as a forum for community input regarding public safety concerns, outreach initiatives, and non-disciplinary community relationship matters.


Members

The Citizen Police Interface Committee consists of volunteer members appointed by the Village Board of Trustees. Members serve without compensation.

The Village encourages participation from people with backgrounds or experience in:

  • Community advocacy
  • Public safety
  • Youth engagement
  • Education
  • Mental health and wellness
  • Social services
  • Community organizing
  • Diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives
