Funding

The Village of Saranac Lake administers funding programs that support community organizations, local initiatives, and projects that provide a public benefit to residents and visitors. Funding opportunities are intended to encourage community investment, strengthen local partnerships, and support projects aligned with Village priorities and adopted plans.

Funding availability, eligibility requirements, and application procedures may vary by program and fiscal year.

Program Categories

Cannabis Fund

The Village of Saranac Lake Cannabis Fund supports projects, programs, and initiatives that provide a direct community benefit related to youth programs, support for seniors, and recreational opportunities.

Funding is derived from cannabis tax revenue distributed to municipalities under New York State law.

The Village Board reviews requests and awards funding based on:

  • Community benefit
  • Alignment with Village goals
  • Project readiness
  • Fiscal responsibility
  • Available funding

Funding Request Application

Organizations, agencies, community groups, and eligible applicants seeking financial support from the Village may be required to complete a Funding Request Application.

Applications help the Village evaluate:

  • Budget and financial need
  • Organizational capacity
  • Alignment with Village priorities

Submission deadlines and required documentation is February 1st.
