Lake Colby Beach

 

 

Lake Colby Beach, also known as William Wallace Park, is a community staple that has seen more than 40 years of public use. Located just north of downtown on Route 86, this scenic spot is a haven for beachgoers in the summer and a magnet for ice fishing in winter. Be sure to linger in the evening — the sunsets here are stunning.

Trails run through us

Our shorter trails are great for day hikes, but Saranac Lake is also intersected by a couple of longer routes:

Northern Forest Canoe Trail: 740-mile water route from Old Forge, NY to Fort Kent, ME. NFCT now has an information hub in downtown Saranac Lake located at 84 Main St.

Jackrabbit Ski Trail: 34-mile ski trail from Keene to Paul Smiths.

Walk Friendly Community Silver Award

Saranac Lake is designated as a Silver-Level community due to the impressive levels of walking and excellent planning efforts. Saranac Lake is a very walkable community and most errands can be accomplished on foot. Parks within the Park

Lovely and local — a taste of the Adirondack Park, right in town. Since 1910, the Village Improvement Society has owned and maintained seven local parks and beautified the Village with flower plantings. These parks offer a relaxing refuge and plenty of scenic views.
