The Fire Department is a volunteer member organization with 5 drivers who are paid employees of the Village.

The Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department provides fire and rescue protection within the Village of Saranac Lake and the Towns of Harrietstown, North Elba, Santa Clara and St. Armand.

Emergency Services Facilities Assessment

The purpose of the Emergency Services Facilities Assessment (ESFA) was to assess the adequacy of the emergency services facilities to enable planning, funding and other pursuits of these services for the Village. The ESFA was prompted by several years of concerns from various representatives from these Village functions about aging and inadequate facilities to support these critical services for the community into the future.
