Clean Energy Communities


The Village of Saranac Lake became a designated Clean Energy Community in 2017 after completing four high-impact to reduce energy use.  The Village continues to work toward completing additional high impact actions.  Learn more about these initiatives on the Clean Energy Communities project page.

Residental Compost at the DPW

​Monday - Friday 7:00am-2:30pm

Saturday - Sunday 7:00am-12:00 pm

 

Village residents with a valid compost permit may dispose of leaves and brush.

Walk Friendly Community Silver Award

Saranac Lake is designated as a Silver-Level community due to the impressive levels of walking and excellent planning efforts. Saranac Lake is a very walkable community and most errands can be accomplished on foot. A walk through the Village provides beautiful lake and river views, historic architecture, parks for refuge and recreation, and many dining and shopping possibilities. Learn more.

Call for Coordinator

Call for Task Force Coordinator- The current Climate Smart Communities Task Force Coordinator will be stepping down from this volunteer role in March. The Task Force is looking for an individual that is willing to step into this role.
