COVID-19 UPDATE

 

Malone, NY – Franklin County Public Health and Franklin County Emergency Operation Center reports that there are 9 individuals with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Franklin County. One of those are hospitalized. There are an additional 130 individuals quarantined/isolated awaiting test results or exhibiting symptoms. Additionally, 146 tests have been returned negative and have been removed from the list. The Department of Public Health expects these statistics to increase dramatically in the coming days. The Franklin County Emergency Operation Center reports that they have received a supply of hand sanitizer that will be distributed throughout the county. Essential businesses (gas stations, post offices, grocery stores, etc.) will be provided with hand sanitizer for use by their customers before and after commonly used devices.    

 

To avoid contracting COVID-19 reduce direct contact with other people and remain at home. Assume COVID-19 is in your community, maintain social distancing and disinfect frequently used surfaces. If you must be away from your home do not gather in a group, maintain at least 6 ft. of distance from anyone else and only travel if absolutely necessary. Self-isolate- This is a very contagious virus that will spread rapidly with potentially devastating. Do not travel it is absolutely necessary and take all precautions. Anytime you leave the sanitary conditions of your home you are risking possible exposure. Please stay home.  

 

Everyone should use hand sanitizer or wash your hands with soap and water frequently.  Commonly touched surfaces should be disinfected often. If disinfectant wipes are unavailable, they can be substituted with a mixture of 1/3 cup of bleach to 1 gallon of water, or alcohol solutions with at least 70% alcohol.  

 

  • Wash your hands often and for at least 20 seconds
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
  • Avoid physical contact like handshakes and hugs
  • Abstain from unnecessary travel
  • Stay home (stay unexposed and do not expose others)
  • Only go out for essential services
  • Stay six feet or more away from others
  • Don’t gather in groups
