FRANKLIN COUNTY EMERGENCY OPERATION CENTER
COVID-19 UPDATE

Malone, NY – Franklin County Public Health and Franklin County Emergency Operation Center reports that as of this release there are 8 individuals with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Franklin County.  There are an additional 120 individuals quarantined/isolated awaiting test results or symptoms. Additionally, 131 tests have been returned negative and those individuals have been removed from the list. The Department of Public Health and all of its partners are working diligently to determine contact information for these positive cases and issuing directives for quarantine when appropriate. Anyone that has been advised to quarantine is being provided with information, resources and direction regarding the conditions of a quarantine.  Assume COVID-19 is in your community and stay home, avoid contact with others and follow the guidelines for disinfecting surfaces. If you must be out in public do not gather in a group, maintain 6 feet of distance from anyone else. To avoid contracting COVID -19, reduce direct contact with other people and stay home. If you are ill, and must go out, it is highly recommended that you follow all precautions and wear a mask. Cotton masks have limitations regarding the spread of COVID-19. It is important that anyone that feels ill wear a mask or face covering in public. Healthy individuals who choose to wear a cotton mask should be aware that they may not be preventing exposure to COVID -19 and should follow all additional safety protocols. If you are a retailer, it is strongly recommended that you use hand sanitizer after each transaction and that you disinfect the area as frequently as possible. If disinfectant wipes are unavailable, they can be substituted with a mixture of bleach and water. A mixture of 1/3 cup of bleach to 1 gallon of water, or alcohol solutions with at least 70% alcohol will adequately disinfect surfaces that may be contaminated.
