FRANKLIN COUNTY COVID-19 UPDATE


Malone, NY – The Franklin County Emergency Operation Center and its partners continue to work diligently to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 virus in Franklin County.    
There are currently NO confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Franklin County.  There are of 50 individuals in isolation that have been tested and are being monitored.  Six individuals have received negative test results and have been removed from the isolation list.  The number of individuals being tested and monitored is expected to increase as we move through this pandemic.    
COVID-19 symptoms include:  cough, fever, trouble breathing and pneumonia.  There is currently no vaccine to combat this virus, however everyone can help stop the spread by:  practicing social distancing (at least 6 feet), avoid handshakes, wash hands with soap and water (at least 20 seconds) or use an alcohol based hand sanitizer, avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands, avoid close contact with people who are sick, cover your cough with a tissue and dispose of the tissue and clean and disinfect frequently used objects and surfaces.  If anyone is feeling ill they should contact their medical provider.  COVID-19 test will only be performed upon the recommendation of a doctor or health care provider.  
Individuals that have been advised to isolate by a medical authority should:  stay home, use a separate bathroom from the other members of the household, maintain at least 6 feet of distance from everyone, stay hydrated, and refrain from having any visitors in the home.

New York State mandated restrictions and closures: all Village elections are postponed, all shopping malls larger than 100,000 square feet are closed, restaurants are limited to take-out or delivery of food service, all places of public amusement are closed, scheduled gatherings of 50 or more people are canceled or postponed, all casinos, gym fitness centers and movie theaters are closed, effective March 21, at 8:00PM all barber shops, beauty salons, tattoo and piercing parlors will be closed, All non – essential business in the state currently have reduced  their workforce by 75%, however it is anticipated that all non-essential businesses will be closed by Monday March 23.
