FRANKLIN COUNTY ANNOUNCES CALL CENTER FOR COVID-19 INFORMATION

Malone, NY – Today the Franklin County Board of Legislators along with the Franklin County Department of Public Health announced that a Call Center has been established to answer questions and concerns regarding the Covid -19 virus and how it is effecting services.  Franklin County residents are encouraged to call 518-481-1111 and they will be connected with an operator who will be able to provide information about Covid-19 and all of the resources that have been affected and/or been made available to help combat this pandemic.  
Franklin County Department of Public Health Director, Katie Strack stated that the Public Health, Emergency Services and local hospital telephone lines are at capacity and this Call Center will be specific to Covid-19.  The Call Center is better equipped to handle a large volume of calls and the information the call center will disseminate will be consistent, relevant and up-to-date.  The Call Center will answer questions, provide referrals and instructions on combating this virus.  
Individuals experiencing fever, cough and/or flu-like symptoms should contact their personal physician.  Testing for the Covid-19 virus will not be conducted without a referral from a physician.  No one should go to an emergency facility with flu like symptoms unless you have contacted their Doctor or the Call Center first.  
The new Call Center – 518-481-1111 is the one place where a person can get information regarding Covid-19 prevention and testing as well as Franklin County Services provided by Department of Social Services, Transportation, Office for the Aging and Public Health.   The new Call Center can also be contacted by email at eoccallcenter@franklincony.org
There are currently no confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Franklin County, however both Clinton and Essex County each have a confirmed case that will have a residual effect here in Franklin County.
