Lake Colby Beach
Lake Colby Beach, also known as William Wallace Park, is a community staple that has seen more than 40 years of public use. Located just north of downtown on Route 86, this scenic spot is a haven for beachgoers in the summer and a magnet for ice fishing in winter. Be sure to linger in the evening — the sunsets here are stunning.

Trails run through us
Our shorter trails are great for day hikes, but Saranac Lake is also intersected by a couple of longer routes:
Jackrabbit Ski Trail: 34-mile ski trail from Keene to Paul Smiths.
Check out our interactive Recreation Map to view boat launches, canoe access sites, trailheads, bicycle access, and scenic walkways around Saranac Lake.
Walk Friendly Community Silver Award
Saranac Lake is designated as a Silver-Level community due to the impressive levels of walking and excellent planning efforts. Saranac Lake is a very walkable community and most errands can be accomplished on foot. A walk through the Village provides beautiful lake and river views, historic architecture, parks for refuge and recreation, and many dining and shopping possibilities. Learn more.
The Walk of Fame recognizes residents or former residents who have distinguished themselves positively, on a national or international level in the arts, sciences, entertainment, sports, commerce, philanthropy or government, bringing honor to themselves and, by their residency in Saranac Lake, to our community.
